High pressure will move off the coast this afternoon as a rapidly
intensifying Gulf Coast storm moves northeast. This storm will
spread to the Tennessee Valley by this afternoon and continue
racing into New York state tonight. The weather across the region
will change very rapidly with increasing winds, torrential rains
and very rough seas from late this evening into Thursday. Strong
backlash winds will follow on Thursday but then high pressure will
build over the coastal waters on Friday.
