Light to moderate rain showers...occasionally mixed with snow...will impact the southeast Texas panhandles this afternoon as a strong upper level system moves across West Texas. Through 5 PM...most of this will fall in the form of rain. However...a transition to snow from west to east is forecast after sunset with locations off The Caprock likely continuing with a mixture of rain...snow and possibly sleet through midnight. Total snow accumulations of around 1 inch are possible...especially in the southern Texas Panhandle where a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through tonight. In addition...a strong cold front will move through the panhandles tonight...resulting in strong north winds of 20 to 30 mph...with higher gusts.
