Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, May 10, 2008. A major developing storm will move out of the Northern Rockies and into the Plains before moving even farther to the east towards the Upper Mississippi Valley. Morning rain and high elevation snow is likely in the Northern Rockies, but this precipitation will wane with the eastward movement of the storm. As it moves into the Plains, it will draw a tremendous amount of Gulf of Mexico moisture into the region. This will allow significant rain and thunderstorms to develop. Some of these thunderstorms will have the ability of producing severe weather in the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a moderate risk of severe weather in the Lower Mississippi Valley and a slight risk of severe weather from eastern Texas through western Georgia and northward into Missouri. Residents in this region should monitor local weather developments and be prepared for tornadic activity.

Significant rain will fall as far north as South Dakota and Minnesota from this storm.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely in the Southeast due to a lingering frontal system that will remain draped over the region.

A Pacific front will slam into the Northwest coast and provide rain in western Oregon and Washington.

Temperatures in the 80s and 90s are expected from the Southwest through the Southeast, while the Northeast will see temperatures in the 60s. The Northern Plains will rise into the 40s and 50s, while the Northwest will see temperatures into the 70s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of 21 degrees at Redmond, Ore. to a high of 101 degrees at Junction, Texas.
